A co-worker, Nick Camillone, was part of a group that was trying to
name the IBM RISC System/6000 (the "POWER" part, I believe). I
suggested "CRISP" for "Cycle Reduced Instruction Set Processor".
That would make the operating system "CRISPIX" ;-) (It's crispy
times two!)
Their final choice was "Performance Optimization With Enhanced
RISC". I liked mine better, but theirs wins the prize for being a
two level acronym.
