I was gonna post a shar of this, but it's a lil too big (~100k,
with the word list).
On March 15th, Don Dodson (ata at sage.cc.purdue.edu) posted a killer
wordsearch to rec.puzzles (75 x 75); first thing we said was,
"Cool! Let's write a program for it!" (we = Sven Heinicke
[sven at cs.widener.edu] and I).
What better to do on a Friday, right? (cough) And another Friday
.. and a Wednesday .. and ..
'mother' is the result. (Since it was a mother of a puzzle.)
We came up with about 1800 three-or-more letter words, with no
duplicates. The code still has a slight bug (it does 8 of the 9
possible directions you can go in), so that ninth may add the 200
or so ya need to qualify for Don's "ability to post".
I've put it on ftp.cs.widener.edu (192.55.239.132), if ya wanna
give it a go. Feel free to hack on it, if ya want (or finish it!).
I'm too burned out on it to do anything more with it for a while.
It's the Makefile, a few C files, the puzzle, and a dictionary
(all upper case, 3 or more letters). I haven't commented the code
much, but it's reasonably readable.
Have fun.
