Also, if you are recording timestamps there are several protocols
which will do the same sort of thing.  The ICMP timestamp message,
and, of course, NTP (The Network Time Protocol).  Each of these record
the time the packet arrived and the time it was transmitted back.
There is additional information in the NTP packet which might be of
interest as well.
