< $ mail() /usr/bin/mailx $*
< $ mail -s "a b c d e f" chris

< the quoted string has become multiple arguments to 'mailx', so ...
< I get

< When I [wanted]

< Subject: a b c d e f
Use "$@" [sic, including the double quotes] instead of $*. $* re-formats the
arguments into individual tokens.
