1) USG UNIX does have "assert.h".

2) In the UNIX 5.0 User's Manual page on "cpp", they FINALLY documented
"__LINE__" and "__FILE__", along with "#if defined(FOO)" and all those
things that have been around since V7 and everybody has used despite
the fact that they're undocumented.  Better late than never...

P.S. John Reiser's claim that the V7 "cpp" was 5 to 12 times faster than
the V6 "cpp" is true.
