Wanted: info on curses

Can anyone tell me (or better yet,  mail me) some information on
how the "curses" package works.  The explanation given by "man curses"
is a little bit on the terse side.  There is reference to a document
by Ken Arnold entitled "Screen Updating and Cursor Movement Optimization:
A Library Package".  Is this available online,  or in print?
