String help! (getting ANSI C strings back out of ROM)

Even better, it becomes
char tempstr[14+1];
strcpy(tempstr, "/tmp/fooXXXXXX");
mktemp(tempstr);
which can, unlike
mktemp("/tmp/fooXXXXXX");
be executed more than once and work every time.
