I don't know how C++ inlining works but one of the long-standing things
on my wishlist is:
inline putc(c, fp)
char c;
FILE *fp;
{
if(--fp->_cnt >= 0)
*fp->ptr++ = c;
else
_flsbuf(c, fp);
}
