General purpose graphics software for Unix wanted

I'm interested in peoples opinion of generally available software
(commercial or other) that can do general plotting type graphics in
the Unix environment. I prefer software that is multi functional (it
can do more than one type of graph/chart). Please mention software
that **YOU** have had experience with. I have had experience with
Computer Associates DISSPLA and like its functionality but it is not
available for the general Unix world (only for Suns and that is not
well supported).
As usual if enough people respond with info **AND** enough people
rebquest a summary I will post said summary.
