According to bph at buengc.BU.EDU (Blair P. Houghton):

IMHO, this:
if (condition && test) {
action();
}
puts about 2 inches between "if" and "{", whereas this:
if (condition)
{
}
makes the "if" and "{" adjacent.
I see two dimensions when I look at a program. Apparently, not everyone
does.
