need a way to read screen memory under MSC 5.1

I need a way to do this, I know it is trivial to do, someone on the net once
showed me how to do it, but I lost the code fragment.

Can someone help me out with this?

what I want to do is something like:
 var screen absolute $b000:000; 
I need the C equivilant of this.
