WCC's CUG assemblers and Aztec CII 1.05??

Hi:

Has anyone compiled the Colley portable Cross Assemblers (A685 in particular)
on the Aztec Cii V1.05??  I see now they were written for 1.06  (Grr..)
My biggest prob is the lack of "calloc()" , but I understand I can get around
that by using malloc since the first agrument passed in calloc() is a 1 !?

Any thoughts or other users out there??  I did the above (used alloc actually)
and the thing compiled and got into a .COM file fine.  Accepted an input 
file too.  Then it just sat there.   After 30 minutes I hit ^C and got back 
into the OS.  So it didn't run amok. . .   What is going on?
