Converting ascii hex values to hex bytes

    {
	int i[4];
	sscanf(inet_addr, "%d.%d.%d.%d", &i[0], &i[1], &i[2], &i[3]);
	bin[0] = i[0], bin[1] = i[1], bin[2] = i[2], bin[3] = i[3];
    }

Alas, the *scanf() family supports int*, short*, and long* arguments,
but not char*, which is why we need i[].
