Just got a hold of the Franklin C compiler for the
8051 series of microcontrollers. It is turning
into a brave new world at times. Anyone out there
have used this beastie?? This thing allows you to
do real bit busting on the bare metal. There is
no OS between you and the hardware. (ie. on alloc
or anything like that) This is both a blessing and
a bane at times. After a few weeks of churning out
new code here and there it's definately worth the
cost (~$1000) and the code it pumps out is SMALL.
My whole OS is gonna fit on one single 8K x 8 EPROM.
If anyone else wants further details on it, please
e-mail me here.
