You ain't just whistling Dixie. I've been at it for about 6 months
(part-time) and it's just now ready for beta-testing. I have made a couple
of improvements to the 4.5 VMS version, fixed several bugs and am
playtesting it now. (Yes, thank you, I have enough playtesters). I have
translated all the source into 4.2 BSD curses-compatible C code. I have
also ported the help library, including some extensions.
When I am happy with it, I will release the source code and documentation to
mod.sources and to Sun (who have agreed to put it on their equivalent of the
DECUS tape). Please don't ask me when that will be - I work on it during
lunchtimes and weekends.
I heard a rumor that someone (possibly at Rutgers?) was going to fix some
of the bugs in 4.5 (there's a particularly nasty problem of monsters not
being drawn when they ought to be). If anyone is actually working on this,
please call me at (512) 338-3586 so that I can get the fixes into the UNIX
version.
