WANTED: tape backup program for vax780/unix 4.2 bsd

We would like a semi-intelligent automated tape backup/recovery program that
needs little or no human assistance for at least a week -

Places all partitions on one tape and places each day consecutively - so that
tapes are stored by week rather then by day.  

It should also be self starting ( like the Mr Clean utility ).

Of course full backups will still have to be done by hand. 
 
It's such a good project I would write one myself but I have a full 
course load already.
