                       NIST POSIX Workshop

                  POSIX Commands and Utilities

                        September 6, 1990

A workshop will be held September 6, 1990 to discuss the proposed
Federal  Information  Processing  Standard for POSIX Commands and
Utilities.  The proposed FIPS  is  based  on  Draft  9  of  POSIX
1003.2.   The workshop will explain the contents of POSIX 1003.2,
the exclusions specified in the FIPS proposal,  and  the  use  of
FIPS  in  Federal  procurements.    Comments on the proposed FIPS
will be solicited.  The workshop is open to all  interested  par-
ties.  Both Federal agency personnel and vendors implementing PO-
SIX systems are encouraged to attend.

The workshop will be held September 6, 1990  at  NIST,  Gaithers-
