A better, though more involved soultion to a locked-up eport  card is
as following:

	Assume eport board #60 is locked-up.
	
	1. /etc/pump /dev/tty61 /lib/pump/eports
                  ^^^^^^^^^^
		  (first port)

	2. ps -ef | grep tty6?
	3. Go through the list of left-over processes generated
	   with "ps" above and "kill -9 " them all.

	4. init q; init q

This will still blow-off all the users on the board, but will 
not disrupt users on other eport cards.

We used to have all sorts of problems with the ports on our 3B2, loosing
every other character in each direction. This seemed to be exacerbated by
using cu frequently.

One thing that you might wish to try (If you haven't already done so) which
cured the problem for us is increasing NCLIST, I currently have ours
set to 256 (which is probably extreme overkill...), and now the only
problems we have are the occasional flow control problems on 9600 baud
modems. On an XPIO card we normally run either 4 terminals at 9600 or 2 at
19200, and apart from the original problem have never had a ports board
hang.

I hope that might be of some interest/help to someone.
