Questions about 22MHz-vs-MPE on the 3B2

Hi folks,
I've got a prospective customer with a 3B2/400 and not
enough CPU cycles. They are hot to get a 3B2/500 and another
VAR has talked them into getting the 22MHz upgrade to it.
My gut feeling is that this is not an efficient use
of his $10,000, and getting one of the multiprocessor
enhancements (MPE) is likely to be much more cost-effective.
His application is old Informix 3.3 (not SQL) with a
zillion users.
Questions: [1] how much real difference is there between the
18MHz processor and the 22[.5?] MHz version? [2] how much real
difference does one of the MPE units make? [3] which would *you*
get?
Phone calls are welcome on this, I'm kind of hot to head
my customer off at the pass before he makes a mistake.
     Thanks,
     Steve
