Need nickel discussion on X.25

Hi folks,
We are faced with a rush project and I need to tap the
collective wisdom of the net. A customer has a 3B2/40 and
needs to talk syncronously to a mainframe over a leased line.
We will be using AT&T Dataphone II modems at 9600bps, and
the mainframe people say they prefer to work using X.25.
We will probably be getting the ISC board for the 3B2
along with the X.25 software that goes on top of it, but my
knowledge of this is limited to spelling of the terms. I
believe I have to write some C code that will talk to a database
on one side and the sync line on the other, and I have no idea
where to start.
We do not yet have all of this stuff yet, and part of my
job is to figure out how to make it work. Has anybody worked
with X.25 on the 3B2? I would love a brief discussion on
what it is, where to look for more information, how good this
implementation is, and other stuff that I may need. I know
async communications, C and UNIX pretty well, so the notes
don't have to start at a first-grade level.
Thanks much,
Steve
