Can AT&T Sys V/386 Rel 3.2.2 handle multiple tape drives?
Yes
We have cases where it would be nice to dedicate one tape drive
for a specific task and have another available for general use.
With the stock AT&T Streaming Tape Units, however, it doesn't
seem to be possible -- the Cartridge tape utilities appear to
be configurable for one drive only.
This is true
Or, could I add a separate SCSI tape drive with its own
controller without conflicting with the existing STU or disk
controllers? Any other ideas?
Additional tape units can be added on a SCSI chain, as they are not
addressed as /dev/rdsk/c0s0, but rather in a manner reflecting their
position on the SCSI buss.
