need 3B4000-3B2/1000 help

First, I'll list what you (hopefully) did to convert an ACP to a stand alone
3B2 1000/70. 

1) Replace mother board with 1000/70 mother board.
2) Remove XBI card.
3) Boot from UNIX load tape.
4) Load Unix.

If this is what you tried, and you still get the xbi not found message, then 
somewhere inside that 3B2 is the memory of having been an ACP.  You must
eradicate that memory.  (Have you seen Total Recall?)  The following is what
I would do:

1) Boot new 3B2 from hadrware diagnostics diskette.
2) Re-format the hard disk.
3) Proceed with step 3 and 4 above...
