3b1 curses

Am I the only one that thinks the 3b1 curses implementation is royally
screwed up?  It seems to not deal well with several termcap and terminfo
definitions that work hunky-dory on several other Unix implementations.
My latest problem is with the recently posted umoria.  It has all kinds
of screen problems.  At first I thought it was umoria, but when vi refused
to work properly with a dmd 630 (native) and emacsterm definitions, I
realized it was a larger problem.

Suggestions? Ideas? Curses :-?
