Does GCC work on 3b2/400?

I've been having a problem getting BASH to compile on my 3b2/400 using
the regular cc.  The error "Token too long" with a line number.  What
I'd like to do is to use gcc instead on my machine, but I can't find
any definite reply on whether or not it will work for me.  

If I can't use gcc, could someone suggest a workaround for me to get
BASH working?  Thanks!
