How should NCLIST be set for makesys?

I just came across a reference to NCLIST in /sys/conf/param.c.  It says that
NCLIST should be set "substantially" higher than the default if there are
many remote logins.  On our 9815 running OSx4.4c, that default turns out to
be 1124.  And typically about 75% of the users are connected remotely.  Can
anyone recommend guidelines for determining a reasonable value for NCLIST?
