cross-cultural dump/restore

I am having trouble restoring files from a dump tape made a few months
ago and I thought maybe someone out there can provide some advice. The
dump in question was made from a Pyramid machine (which we no longer
have - but was running their flavor of unix), to an Exabyte on a SUN
4/280 running SunOS 4.0.3. Our network dumps are such that the SUN
backup server r-shell's to the target machine, the dump program is run
on the target machine with the exabyte on the SUN designated as the
remote device. I should also point out that a blocking factor = 8 is
used for all the dumps. I had been able to (remotely) restore files to
the Pyramid, but since we no longer have that machine I am trying
to restore a user's subdirectory from the dump tape to a disk on
another SUN system.

Of course, since their is more than one dump file on the tape I fast
forward to the appropriate one. I have tried both restore and rrestore
with blocking factor = 8, but receive the following error message:

	"No Header After Volume Mark"

which I am not familiar with.
I would appreciate any suggestions as to how I can get restore to work,
or if there are other methods of retreiving the files I need. Thanks.
