I don't remember if its been mentioned in this newsgroup yet or not, but
everyone here who has upgraded to 3.1G has run across this problem, so I
thought I'd mention it (again?):
After the upgrade, you may notice that the lp spooler is not working properly.
This is because the permissions on the /usr/spool/lp directory are inconsistent.
Some of the symptoms may be: the lp command hangs, the lpstat command hangs,
the scheduler is stopped, and some other minor anomilies which I don't quite
understand (having to do with FIFO and SCHEDLOCK).
To "fix" the problem, change the owner of the /usr/spool/lp directory to lp:
chown lp /usr/spool/lp
Everything seems to work quite nicely again.
