Compiling AKCL on an Iris 4D 340S

I am attempting to compile AKCL 1.505 on an Iris 4D 340S under IRIX
3.3.1... with no luck what-so-ever.  Has anyone been successful in
this?  Can anyone give me some pointers?  HELP.
