more named fun

Much thanks to randy at tessa.iaf.uiowa.edu and butler at BRL.MIL for the localhost
fix - I now see that the system originally came with this file (oops!)

Everything seems to be working fine now, with the exception of booting.
Both mount and exportfs reject foreign hosts as unknown. I tried
modifying /etc/init.d/network so named is started before the mount -t nfs
and exportfs take place and this worked - BUT daemons after these get
confused i.e. timeslave, lpd and the window manager crap out.

Am I correct in interpreting this to mean /etc/hosts is ingored if
/usr/etc/resolv.conf is present (named running or not)? I assume
that I could just get nameservice from another host and eliminate
problems with daemons starting before named kicks in, but this
introduces a dependency on the other host.

Would I gain anything by running yp ? It looks like it starts before
 the mount takes place.

(the system is in heavy use, so I'd like to reduce the amount of
  rebooting to test all this)
