Getting the most from your geometry engine

Now that it is possible to do GL routines from more than one thread,
is it faster to have each thread send down its geometry or to have
each thread construct the geometry and have a single thread call the
GL routines?  I checked out the GL documentation but didn't see any
answer to this.
