I use the following method, which works o.k., but not perfect:

1.  Convert the SGI image into a GIF image. (I use PBMPLUS or Utah Raster
	Toolkit to do this.)  Available via anonymnous FTP from this host
	(Iris1.UCIS.Dal.Ca) in the /pub/ftp/sgi  directory.

3. Transfer the file to your Mac.

4. Convert the GIf image into PICT II format using GIFFER.
	Available via anonymous FTP from Sumex-Aim.Stanford.Edu in the
	/info-mac/art/gif directory.

5. Use the image in your favorite software.

  The major drawback in this method is that the image gets converted into
an 8 bit image.  For most colour Macs this is not a problem, but if you 
need a 24 bit image this method is not sufficient.

For 24 bit colour, it might be best to convert the image into a 24 bit
colour TIFF image. (I do not know how to do this yet.
