SGI Image Library Docco

Can anyone tell me where the programming interface to the SGI Image library is?
I have found man pages to the supplied image utilities, but not to the library
calls.

The man pages for the image utilities refer you to the "Graphics Library
Programming Guide" but there is no info there either.
