suboptimal SGI C compiler

I just found a bug with "cc -O3" and the linker, and SGI's response was
that level 3 optimization is not supported!!  What's going on here?  It
links fine with the MIPS C compiler (2.11).  We have been compiling our
production code -O3 for years because we get significant performance
improvements.  Who can I complain to?  Is engineering listening?  And
what about maintaining compatibility with MIPS?  This is not a good sign.
