xdbx and IRIX 3.3.1

I tried building xdbx 2.1 on IRIX 3.3.1 without any compiler or linker
errors but when I ran the executable, it quit by saying there were
"no more ptys" available.  Does someone have a set of patches to make 
xdbx work on this platform?
