terminfo to termcap conversion

Thanks to all who responded to my terminfo-to-termcap conversion question!
"infocmp -C xxx" works just the man page says it should...
One more question for the terminal gurus:  Does anyone know of a way to
automatically determine and set the terminal type at login (something
similar to the "SET TERM/INQUIRE" on the VAX)?  Thanks..
