Tape cartridges

We have a 4D/25 on order and have just found that
although the tape drive will read DC300XL tapes, it will not write
them.  Since we have over a hundred tapes from our old system that we
want to reuse, we would appreciate tips on how to reuse these tapes if
at all possible, since replacing all of them will be very expensive.
