sgi_mountd problem on 4D/340 VGX running 3.3.2

Since we upgraded the OS on our 4D/340 VGX file server we have been 
experiencing problems trying to mount the server's disk from the
PI clients.  For some reason, the server drops the mount daemon.
Here is output from /usr/etc/rpcinfo -u machine  sgi_mountd for some machines.

This script will demonstrate that RPC programs can be awakened
on a system that is not a VGX running IRIX 3.3.2.
391004 is sgi_mountd.

 An IRIS-4D/70 running IRIX 3.3.1
pyxis.arc.nasa.gov:    program 391004 version 1 ready and waiting
 An IRIS-4D/70 running IRIX 3.3.2
ra-iris11.arc.nasa.gov:    program 391004 version 1 ready and waiting
 A Personal IRIS running IRIX 3.3.2
ra-iris13.arc.nasa.gov:program 391004 version 1 ready and waiting
 IRIS-4D/340 running IRIX 3.3.2
ra-iris.arc.nasa.gov:  program 391004 version 0 is not available

There have been reports of automount problems.  Has anyone seen this
before and knows how to fix it?
