H E L P !
Thru some miscommunication, I am the `proud' owner of a Sun SMD-4
controller for my Sun 4/260, and a Fujitsu M2372K 688 Meg disk drive, with
NO apparent way to connect them. The drive is an Sigma cabinet, with a
power supply. The connectors are as shown:
Cabinet SMD-4 (7053)
Control: 60 pin 3M 2 row (ribbon) conn 62 pin 3 row 'D' conn
Data: 2 - 26 pin 3M 2 row (ribbon) 50 pin 3 row 'D' conn
Does anyone know the pinouts on an SMD-4 controller? Could I build a
straight thru ribbon cable, and simply shift the cable to not connect some
unused pins? Has anyone looked inside a Sun disk cabinet, attached to a
7053 controller? Are the connections straight thru to the drive(s)? Can
anyone recommend a 3rd party cable supplier?
Sun uses this same drive, but puts it in their own cabinet, with their own
'D' connectors. I probably should have ordered a 451, or a Xylogics 753,
but I didn't, so does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. If there is interest, I'll summarize any responses.
