LPI BASIC For SUN...

I have LPI BASIC for a SUN 3/50.  It works well, but much to my disgust,
there is no 'SHELL' or 'PIPE' command to allow system calls from the basic
program.  I really coudn't believe that this wasn't part of the language
provided by LPI.  For me, the software is useless with out this feature.
I talked to the company about this 'little problem' with there product.
Their response was, "Well, we've been talking about adding that
feature..."  They suggest that I write a C interface program to do this...
If I knew how to write C code, what the heck would I need BASIC for??  I
want to pass string varibles to and from the CSH and do processing with
the BASIC.

Could anyone help me out with this interface??  I'm will to provide any
information necessary...
