Unfortunately you did not mention the level of operating system you are
running.
If you have SunOS 4.0 or even 4.0.1 there is a problem known by Sun. The
effect was, that the output was trincated midway through printout. Try to
get the serial line driver patch from their hotline if you can get around
it with:
Work around:
If the port is held open for an indefinite amount of time, (such as
"(cat foo > /dev/ttya; sleep 999999)" or cp /dev/ttya /dev/null)
the file will be written correctly.
