TCP/IP optimization??

I need to obtain the best possible performance (i.e. minimize
client-server response time) using sockets in the internet domain.  Any
suggestions on how to obtain this??  (Are there any recommended socket
options to set?  Or any fine tuning of the kernel possible?  etc.)

The software is running under SunOS 4.0.3.  I am using stream sockets in
the internet domain--typical client-server model.
