Multiuser dumps?

We're currently using GNU tar for our backups, but we are thinking about
switching to dump.

We don't have the time to do single user dumps, so it must be mulituser
(at least the incremental dumps). Problem: The Sun manuals says that I
might not be able to restore files if someone changes the filesystem
during the dump.

Could someone tell me how serious this problem is, and explain what might
happen. 

I know that this subject has been discussed here before, so I suppose
someone could mail me a summary from a previous discussion.
