HELP: ld.so: map heap error(22) for /dev/zero

I am suddenly getting errors of 

	ld.so: map heap error(22) for /dev/zero

on 2 3/60  clients, served by a 3/80 all running 4.0.3. (They are the
3/80's ONLY clients) This happened today shortly after the server had
crashed with errors: (see end)

This happens at the boot sequence when it enters rc.local and thereafter
when one tries to login. I do get the login prompt but as soon as I hit
return I get the error above. If I boot single user I get the same error
every time I try and run a command that is not built-in.  I have seen this
question before in Sun-Spots(Issue9/80), but no solution sent back.

Any ideas anyone?
