Can the console not be the frame buffer?

We have a Sun4/330 which acts as a file server. However it also has a GXP
board on it. We would like to let our users have access to the monitor
and keyboard but not the console.

Is there a way of specifying /dev/ttya as the console device but still have
access to the frame buffer?

Our configuration is :
	Sun4/330
	GXP board
	SunOS4.1
