SCSI driver on SUN for SmartJet

I want to order an IRIS SmartJet 4012 Inkjet Printer for high quality
color output. This printer has a SCSI interface.  In our research group we
are working on topics as image processing and rendering in color.  Our
development systems are based on SUN, so we want to connect the printer
directly to a SUN Workstation.

The IRIS SmartJet 4012 uses the ANSI IT8.4-1989 protocol "Device Exchange
Format for the On-Line Transfer of Color Proofs from Electronic Prepress
Systems to Direct Digital Color Proofing Systems " and supports the SCSI
interface ANSI X3.131-1986, differential cabling option.

Our SUN is a Sparc station 4/470 OS4.

Does somebody know where I can get some SUN/UNIX drivers for this printer
or perhaps drivers for other printers connected by SCSI to a SUN..  Has
someone routines or clues to control this printer or give some useful
general remarks on how to write a SCSI driver.
