Alternatively assuming you have networking you could use rsh (or
remsh on SYSV) to handle the ptys for you.
rsh `hostname` passwd < scriptfile
where scriptfile contains two lines
eg
foobar
foobar
Not particluarly secure, but quick and fairly widely applicable.
