Problems configuring dialin/dialout port on RS/6000

Greetings Folks

	We are trying to set up simple uucp comm between the RS/6000 and
our other Unix/Xenix boxes and are successful until we try to use pshare
and use the port for both dialin/dialout...  In this case we get 
an error message when we transmit the carriage return after the user name
at the prompt.. something to the effect of invalid login...

I am posting this for a friend so I cant give exact error messages but I know
that we have been successful except when we go for dialin/dialout config
using pshare...  Any help would be appreciated.
