rcp/rsh on AIX version3.1 R/S 6000/320

Sounds like on one or both ends you are doing a stty in your
.cshrc or your .profile. All stty commands should be in your
.login, since they are only to be executed for login processes.
rcp and rsh don't much care about the sockets terminal settings. :-)
