I have a problem setting up YP on an RT with only a connection to
a token-ring, while the YP-server is on an ethernet (another RT is
functioning as gateway).
This is the situation :
RT bontenos is connected to the tokenring (134.58.44.2)
SUN brutus (YPserver) is on an ethernet (134.58.40.19)
RT n_kulcs is serving as gateway between the tokenring (134.58.44.6) and
the ethernet (134.58.40.41).
Here is the significant part of rc.nfs :
if [ -x /bin/domainname ]; then
/bin/domainname cs.kuleuven.ac.be
fi
if [ -x /etc/ypbind ]; then
/etc/ypbind; echo ' ypbind\c' >/dev/console
/etc/yp/ypset 134.58.40.19
fi
The RT boots without any problem, but then i get every ...seconds the
following message :
yp: server not responding for domain "cs.kuleuven.ac.be"; still trying
Another RT, with exactly the same /etc/rc.nfs, BUT with an interface to
the ethernet does not have that problem.
2 RS6000 machines with only a connection to the tokenring also have this
problem.
The strange thing is also that I don't have this problem when I boot
the machine without YP, and then manually introduce YP.
Anyone who can solve this problem ?????
Thanks
