RS/6000 SNA communication

Has anybody any knowledge and/or experiences with SNA communications on
the RS/6000.
- Is it standard available or optional (costs?)
- What functionality does it offer? I am specifically interested in the
  functionality FROM a mainframe TO the RS/6000 (file transfer, terminal
  emulation) since any other commercial solution (like TCP/IP) doesn't offer
  enough functionality and costs multi-bucks (>> $50,000).
- Experiences; does it do what is claimed?

(Since there is no separate newsgroup for the RS/6000 I posted the message to 
 this newsgroup. It was as close as I could get!).
